Terms of service

1. Provider and scope

Data Anonymizer (https://anonymize.relaystudio.org) is provided by Mathias Gort, MSc, Relay Studio, Badidastraße 81, 6811 Göfis, Austria. These terms apply to use with and without an account.

2. Service

The service detects columns and values that may contain personal data in CSV and Excel files and replaces them as you choose: with consistent pseudonyms, masks, keyed hashes, generalized values or shifted dates, or by clearing or removing them. With the key file, pseudonyms can be replaced by the original values again.

Detection is automatic and can miss personal data or flag data that is not personal, especially in free text. You must review the column settings and the result before sharing a file. Pseudonymized data is still personal data under the GDPR for anyone who holds the key file. The service does not decide whether a file is anonymous in a legal sense, for example under HIPAA or the GDPR.

3. Plans and limits

Without an account: 1,000 rows per calendar month. Free account: 10,000 rows in 30 days. Paid plans: the number of rows stated at purchase per billing month; unused rows expire at the end of the period. A row is one data row below the header. The same file is counted once in the same window, however often it is processed. Restoring with a key file is not counted.

Prices are monthly. As a small business under § 6 (1) 27 UStG (Austria) we charge no VAT.

4. Payment, term, cancellation

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe and renew for one month at a time. You can cancel at any time in your account (Manage plan) with effect from the end of the current month. Plan changes take effect immediately and are prorated by Stripe.

5. Right of withdrawal for consumers

Consumers have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the contract date. An email to support@relaystudio.org is enough. Access starts immediately after payment at your express request. If you agreed to this at checkout and confirmed that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal, the right ends when the service begins (§ 18 (1) 11 FAGG). Without that agreement we refund the share for the unused time on withdrawal.

6. Acceptable use

Only upload or enter data you are allowed to process. Automated bulk requests, circumventing the limits and attacks on the service are prohibited; we may suspend access on violation.

7. Availability and liability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee a specific level. We are liable without limit for intent, gross negligence and personal injury. For slight negligence we are not liable to businesses; to consumers only for breach of essential obligations and limited to foreseeable damage. Towards businesses, liability is in any case limited to the fees paid in the last 12 months.

8. Changes

We notify customers on a paid plan of changes to these terms or prices by email at least 30 days in advance. You may cancel before they take effect.

9. Law and venue

Austrian law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods; mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. Venue for businesses is Feldkirch, Austria.
