Mask SSNs, card numbers and account numbers

Show ***-**-6789 instead of the full SSN and **** **** **** 1111 instead of the card number. Separators and length stay as they were, so the column still looks right to people and to systems that expect the format.

Or click to choose. Up to 200 MB; the file is processed on this computer and never uploaded.

Found by the numbers, not only the header

Card numbers are recognized by length and the Luhn check digit, IBANs by their country code and check digits, SSNs and EINs by their format, also in columns with unhelpful names. Numbers inside free-text fields can be replaced as well.

Mask, pseudonymize or hash

Masking keeps the last four digits for people who need to recognize a record. A pseudonym gives each number its own code that stays the same across rows and files. A keyed hash does the same without keeping a way back. For card numbers in particular, keep only what the recipient actually needs.

Not a PCI tool

This helps when card numbers have ended up in an export or a support spreadsheet and need to be cleaned before the file moves on. It does not make a system PCI compliant, and full card numbers should not be stored in spreadsheets in the first place.

Questions

Which SSN formats are recognized?
123-45-6789 everywhere, and nine digits without dashes in a column whose header says SSN, social security, TIN or ITIN.
What about phone numbers?
Masking keeps the last four digits of phone numbers too; pseudonymizing treats (415) 555-0132 and +1 415.555.0132 as the same number.
